Everyday spoken Arabic isn't the formal written kind
Modern Standard Arabic is what's written and broadcast, but nobody's mother tongue is quite MSA: people actually speak Egyptian, Gulf, Levantine, or Maghrebi Arabic, which differ enough in vocabulary that a stiff MSA translation can sound like a news anchor in a casual call.
