What Is the Maestra Zoom Integration?
The Maestra Live app for Zoom adds real-time captions and translation to Zoom meetings and webinars. The host installs it once from the Zoom App Marketplace, links a Maestra account, and starts captions from inside the meeting.
It listens to the meeting audio
The app uses Zoom's Real-Time Media Streams (RTMS) to receive the meeting audio. Captions and translations appear in the app panel inside the meeting, so the host sees exactly what attendees see.
Attendees follow on their own device
Maestra posts a join link in the meeting chat. Anyone who opens it picks a language and reads the live captions or listens to the translation. Viewers do not need a Maestra account.
Not the same as Zoom's built-in interpretation
Zoom's own language interpretation relies on human interpreters and manual language channels. Maestra uses AI, so there is no interpreter to book and many languages can run at once.
How to Translate a Zoom Meeting With Maestra
Install the app once
Add the Maestra Live - Transcription & Translation app from the Zoom App Marketplace and link your Maestra account. This works with the Zoom desktop app on macOS and Windows.
Start captions in your meeting
Open the app inside the meeting, choose the spoken language and the languages to translate into, and start live captions. Only the meeting host can start a session.
Share the link with attendees
Maestra posts a join link into the meeting chat for you. Attendees open it on a phone or laptop, choose a language, and follow the captions or the translated voice.
Try Maestra in your next Zoom call
Install the app and start a session, or book a walkthrough for webinars and large meetings.
Ways to Make a Zoom Meeting Multilingual
Zoom meetings in several languages usually rely on one shared language, human interpreters, or AI translation.
| Everyone uses one language | Zoom language interpretation | Maestra AI translation | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you need | Nothing | Human interpreters booked ahead, and manual language channels | The Maestra app and a Maestra account for the host |
| Languages at once | One | One channel per interpreted language | 100+, running simultaneously |
| Lead time | None | Days to weeks | Minutes |
| How attendees follow | They adapt to the shared language | Switch to an interpretation channel in Zoom | Open the chat link and choose a language |
| Record afterwards | Whatever someone writes down | Depends on your Zoom setup | Transcript and translations can be saved |
| Best fit | Teams fluent in one language | Regulated or high-stakes sessions | Recurring calls, customer sessions, webinars and training |
Human interpretation remains the right choice for legal, diplomatic and regulated proceedings.

The speed and ease of uploading and transcribing captions in so many different languages is what I love most about this tool. I also love that I can download an immediate text file of my transcriptions.

How does live translation for Zoom work?
The host installs the Maestra Live app from the Zoom App Marketplace and links a Maestra account. In a meeting, the app uses Zoom's Real-Time Media Streams to listen to the audio and shows live captions and translation in the app panel. Maestra posts a join link in the chat so attendees can follow on their own device.
Who can start a captioning session?
Only the meeting host can start a session. The host installs and links the app once, after which it is available in every meeting.
How many languages are supported?
Maestra supports 100+ languages for live captions and translated voice. Saved sessions can be translated into 125+ languages.
Can I use it for webinars and large meetings?
Yes. The integration works for Zoom meetings and webinars. Plan eligibility for webinars and longer sessions can differ, so check the current plans or book a demo.
Can I try it before committing?
You can try the Zoom integration with a free Maestra account, or book a demo to see it with your own meeting setup.
Do participants need to install anything?
No. Participants join the Zoom meeting as usual and open the link in the chat to read captions or listen in their language. They do not need a Maestra account.
Does it work on desktop and mobile?
The host runs the app in the Zoom desktop app on macOS or Windows. Attendees follow the captions and translations in any browser, on a phone, tablet or computer.
Is this the same as Zoom's built-in interpretation feature?
No. Zoom's interpretation feature relies on human interpreters and manual language channel management. Maestra uses AI translation, so there is no interpreter to schedule and many languages can run at once.
Can I export the transcript afterwards?
Yes. After the session you can download the original transcript and the translated versions for documentation, subtitles or records.
