What Is the Maestra vMix Integration?
The vMix integration sends live captions from Maestra into a title input in vMix. Captions and translations appear on your production output, so any audience watching the broadcast can read them.
Captions arrive as a title input
You import a title template into vMix and Maestra feeds it through vMix's Web Controller. The title behaves like any other input, so you decide where and how it is composited.
Runs on the production machine
Maestra runs in the browser on the same computer as vMix. An optional Maestra Companion app makes the connection smoother for repeat productions.
Built for broadcast
Use it for multi-camera events, council livestreams, church services, conferences and launches where captions or translated captions must be part of the program.
How to Set Up Live Captions in vMix
Import the title template
Download the Maestra caption title template and import it in vMix with Add Input > Title/XAML.

Ways to Caption a vMix Production
Productions usually have no captions, a dedicated human captioner, or automatic AI captions.
| No captions | Human captioner | Maestra live captions | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Staffing | None | A captioner booked per show | None after setup |
| Languages | The spoken language only | Usually one | 100+, including translation |
| Lead time | None | Booked in advance | Minutes |
| Where captions appear | Nowhere | Depends on the workflow | A vMix title input you position |
| Record afterwards | None | Depends on the provider | Transcript and translations can be exported |
| Best fit | Internal or casual streams | Regulated broadcasts that need certified captioners | Regular productions, events and multilingual broadcasts |
Some broadcast and accessibility rules specify certified human captioners. Check what your context requires.
